Nowadays, in the cruise industry, more and more mega-ships are operating worldwide and Myanmar is getting popular destinations in the World Cruise Map.
Since Yangon port is a riverine port, there are tide restrictions and restricted port limitations under Myanmar Port Authority (MPA). So, there is a two-port zone in Yangon as an Outer Port for Semi Mega Cruise under LOA 280 meters cruise and Inner Port (City Harbor) for a small cruise under 167 m LOA vessel as per existing rule.
Myanmar Voyages had successfully operated the largest cruise (MV Superstar Virgo) in 2003 after attempting to change old regulation of MPA and made a Myanmar Port history by MV Astor maiden voyage in 1999.
Besides, Mergui Archipelago (over 800 including virgin islands) is an eye for adventure, expedition cruises and mega cruises as a new port destination in South East Asia. Myanmar Voyages had organized expedition cruises and introduced the residential cruise ship to Mergui archipelago and Ngapali Beach as a potential cruise destination. Moreover, some expedition cruises are looking for virgin ports in order to explore the real-life of local communities.
Myanmar Voyages successfully operated to Sittwe, Pathein, Ngwe Saung Beach Port and these ports will become potential ports for natural lovers for sure.

  • The Mergui Archipelago is located in the southernmost part of Myanmar (Burma), comprises over 800 beautiful islands including virgin islands immense area covers approximately 36,000 sq km (14,000 sq miles). Due to its virtual isolation, the islands and surrounding seas are alive with an amazing diversity of flora & fauna and very beautiful underwater scenes and marine life just north of the Surin Islands, an imaginary line divides Thai waters from Myanmar diving here is still in its infancy, as the entire region has been off-limits to outsiders since the late 1940s.
